Hi,
I’m Alex, audience engagement editor with New York Focus. As the state’s only nonprofit statewide newsroom, a big part of our mission is to help rebuild a local news ecosystem that has faced years of relentless cuts: Almost half of New York’s newspapers have died in the last two decades.
My job involves bringing our reporting to people across the state of New York, and that often means partnering with local news outlets across the state. We all want to know — what do New Yorkers want from their local news and how can we meet those needs?
We want to know more about what matters to you in your local news, and we’ve launched a statewide, community listening campaign to meet you in person. Our next visit is coming up in Potsdam and we hope to see you there! We want to know: How do you get your news? What is the news media doing well, and what are we missing?
Attendees will receive a $20 gift card. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.
Join us! Register for the event on Tuesday January 30 6-8pm at Potsdam Town Hall. If you’re unable to attend, you can still participate by taking our survey.
This is the third stop on our monthslong community listening tour. Please come and share your insights, experiences, concerns and ideas for local news coverage.
See you soon,
Alex
